‘Mi want a farrin man’ Woman in search of love rules out Jamaican men

Shernette Smith is hunting for a “farrin man” who can help ease her financial burden while winning her heart. The 31-year-old Clarendon mother of three made her desire known in a TikTok post more than a week ago.

Now, calls are reportedly flooding in from men who say they saw her videos and pictures and liked what they saw, some of whom she has no interest in because they are Jamaicans. “One whole heap a man a call mi. Some a dem a from Jamaica too, but mi nuh want dem,” she said.

“Mi want a farrin man fi true,” Smith insisted.

A native of Mocho, Smith works as a vendor at May Pen Market. She said the calls have been coming at all hours.

“Right through the night, a bare farrin call, and it reach the point where mi have to put my phone on Do Not Disturb at nights,” Smith said.

After what she describes as unsuccessful experiences with Jamaican men, Smith said she is now looking overseas for her next relationship.

“Mi try wid the Jamaican man dem but mi nah really get nuh money,” she said.

But while romance is high on her wishlist, Smith is also upfront about the financial pressures facing her as a mother of three.

“Mi waah help because mi have three children, and a back-to-school time now. Mi waah some money to go town go buy goods to sell, so a farrin money mi wah spend,” she said.

Smith recently ended a relationship with a Jamaican man whom she accused of being stingy. According to Smith, he used to drive her around in his van but did not give her any money.

“Because him a carry mi fi free him nuh want to give me any money, and a two bundle a money mi see him take out of him van and him don’t give me a dollar,” Smith said.

Smith is not hiding the fact that financial stability is important to her. She wants to rent a place, build her business, and provide for her children. But she insists she is not simply hunting for a wallet with a passport.

“A nuh just money mi want enuh, because mi a guh love the person who mi settle with. Mi would set him up nice,” Smith stressed.

So far, Smith said none of the overseas men calling her has sent her any money, but that has not dampened her optimism.

“Mi soon get, man, because mi a fast and pray on it,” she said.

And, with several men apparently competing for her attention, Smith said two have already caught her eye.

“Two a dem call mi in the week and mi like dem vibes. Mi talk to a next one inna the day yah, and mi spirit take him too. But mi nuh want nuh heap a man, suh a just one a dem a guh be the lucky one,” she said.

Smith said she is willing to play matchmaker with some of the men who have contacted her.

“Mi a guh give away some of them because a whole heap a single woman out there. Any single woman out there who want a man overseas can link mi and mi share some a the number dem with them, because mi nuh want so much man,” Smith said.
