DJ Wade releases ‘Dancehall Nice Again’ album
With the significant evolution of dancehall music since the 1970s, curators have found various ways to aid with placement of the genre into international channels.
Australia-based, Jamaican disc jock and producer DJ Wade is aiming to become a direct source for dancehall music within the southern hemisphere, and has presented numerous projects that have earned their place on musical charts. Currently, he is basking in the success following the release of his much anticipated Dancehall Nice Again album which features acts such as Wilful Skilful ( Ambitious), Turbulence ( One Life), and Pressure ( Burning Down). Despite the album's title, it boasts collaborations that allow for creative exchanges that enhance artistic expression and broaden audience reach globally. There is a track for every active music market, demographic and music lover.
"Diversity has always been a major part of Jamaica's identity as well as a vital aspect of the dancehall genre and I am thankful to be able to positively add to the genre by giving the people music they can resonate with. Each song is designed to appeal to a different listener with tracks available for our French and Latin speaking audience as well," he said.
The featured artistes hail from different backgrounds and have various levels of experience in the music industry.
"[For example], Charly B is a reggae artiste located in France, while Teacha Dee is based in Germany, making their European connections a vital part of the project," he said. "Spit Fyah with his Spanish track helps with expanding our reach to Latin audiences. Iya Ingi and Binghi Ghost have demonstrated where their inspirational tracks will gain traction in North America, strengthening our US-based audience reach. Yellow Marshall, an upcoming artiste from Guyana, brings a positive message that resonates with the album's themes." Other artistes such as Turbulence and US Virgin Island's Pressure were added for their longevity in the industry and their strong influence.
This project comes ahead of the release of Wilful Skilful and Wiski D's separate EPs that will be executively produced by the DJ and marketed on a global scale.
